Raval Restaurant was founded based on the philosophy of introducing the North East region to a restaurant serving real, authentic Indian food as served in India. Indian food served in the UK is often anglicized and high fat, high calorie and unauthentic. Raval Restaurant seeks to move away from this by serving cusine with real Indian spices and flavour. All other produce is locally sourced and grown in the North East if possible - Raval is proud of its North East roots and supports local business as much as possible.
Raval believes in the importance of bringing the authentic taste of India to Britain and the North East of England, changing the perception of Indian food from a high calorie, greasy curry to delicately seasoned, a la carte cuisine. Recipes are based on traditional Indian Ayurvaedic principles, so that Raval food is not just a treat for the tastebuds but also nutritionally balanced. Unlike calorie and fat laden curry house dishes, many choices on the Raval menu are suitable for those watching their wasteline.
