NORTH rocker Baz Warne lived up to his reputation as a Strangler during his most recent visit to the region . . . by murdering a curry!
The frontman of the veteran punk outfit joined fellow band and crew members for a spicy treat at Raval Luxury Indian Restaurant ahead of an equally hot date at Newcastle’s O2 Academy.
Baz, 48, was full of praise for Raval and vowed to return the next time he’s in the region.
The former bassist with Sunderland punk band Toy Dolls joined the Stranglers as lead vocalist in 2000, filling the formidable shoes of Hugh Cornwell.
He is currently touring with the band to promote their latest, critically-acclaimed album Giants.
Restaurant manager Avi Malik admitted he did not recognise the rocker. But Baz was so keen to let him know how much the group had enjoyed their meal that he made himself known, and was more than happy to pose for a picture with him.
Mr Malik said: “He told me I had a fantastic restaurant and said the food had incredible flavours and textures.
“And he even poked fun at our menu, saying the language used to describe the dishes reminded him more of French cuisine than curries.”
