The Theatre Royal is one of the finest drama venues of the North East. Originally constructed in 1837, the building was refurbished in 1901 following a devestating fire and is now a Grade 1 listed landmark. The theatre shows a variety of high profile entertainment including performances by the Royal Shakespeare Company and Opera North, and best of all is only a short walk over the Tyne Bridge from Raval.
