Raval Celebrates the 25th Anniversary of National Curry Week with “Curry with a Cause” Campaign

Newcastle Gateshead, Northeast – Flanking iconic landmarks like the Tyne Bridge, Sage Gateshead, and the Hilton Hotel, Raval stands tall, not just as a culinary icon but as a beacon of community spirit and giving. As the fervour for the 25th National Curry Week (2nd-8th October) brews, Raval Restaurant introduces its heartfelt “Curry with a Cause” initiative.

Celebrating National Curry Week’s Rich Legacy:

Initiated in October 1998 by the late journalist Peter Grove, National Curry Week was established to drive awareness and appreciation of the blossoming Indian restaurant industry while championing charitable causes. Today, its mission remains threefold:

Honour the nation’s beloved cuisine.
Celebrate and uplift the Indian restaurant industry.
Support charities focused on alleviating poverty.

This year, as National Curry Week celebrates its 25th anniversary, the vision is to make it grander than ever, staying true to its core objectives and amplifying its impact.

Returning to Raval’s dedication, anchored in a location steeped in history and renowned for its culinary prowess, the restaurant introduces an initiative that perfectly aligns with the essence of National Curry Week.

Central to this drive is the iconic Chicken Tikka Masala, meticulously crafted with over 30 authentic spices and herbs. For every Chicken Tikka Masala or Paneer Tikka Masala dish purchased during the celebratory week, a portion directly supports ‘Feeding Families’, a Northeast-based charity combating food poverty. The initiative’s mantra is clear: “Every Chicken Tikka Masala or Paneer Tikka Masala dish you buy helps feed families.”

Nas Islam, Manager at Raval, sheds light on the campaign, stating, “This initiative encapsulates the Northeastern spirit of unity, hope, and benevolence. Without diverging from their cherished curry rituals, our patrons ensure no child or family grapples with hunger in our region.”

Furthermore, ‘Feeding Families’ signifies hope, having donated 346,731 meals and aided 11,316 households during the festive season in the past year alone. Their ethos resonates deeply with Raval’s community-centric values.

Gratitude remains paramount. “Achieving national accolades marked a pivotal moment for us. But the true triumph lies in harnessing this recognition to create tangible change in our community,” continues Islam.

Raval’s message is unequivocal: “Eat well, do good.” This National Curry Week, feast on sublime dishes at Raval and simultaneously cast a lifeline to families in dire need.
