1. Eligibility
- Open to UK residents aged 18 or over.
- Participants must be available to attend the live event on Tuesday 27 May 2025 at Raval Indian Brasserie, Church Street, Gateshead, NE8 2AT.
- No purchase is necessary to enter.
2. Entry Criteria
- Entry requires posting a 30–60 second video on Instagram, Facebook, or TikTok, tagging @ravalrestaurant and using the hashtag #RavalInfernoChallenge by 11:59 PM on 20 May 2025.
- Entries must include a verbal statement of intent to participate.
- Public engagement (likes, shares, and comments) may be considered in the selection process.
- Finalists will be selected by Raval at its sole discretion based on creativity, engagement, and suitability.
3. Live Event Format
- Up to 10 finalists will be invited to participate in the live Inferno Challenge event at 6:00 PM on 27 May 2025.
- If fewer than 10 qualified participants come forward, Raval reserves the right to:
- Modify or cancel the event,
- Replace it with a live showcase, and
- Donate the full £500 prize to the Great North Children’s Hospital.
4. Judging Criteria
- The winner (if applicable) will be judged on:
- Completion time
- Composure and performance
- Adherence to rules (no quitting, vomiting, or excessive relief)
- Final judgement is made by Raval management and is final and not subject to appeal.
5. Health & Safety Disclaimer
- The Inferno Curry contains extremely hot ingredients (ghost peppers, naga jolokia, scorpion chillies) exceeding 1,000,000 Scoville units.
- Participation may result in severe discomfort, illness, allergic reactions, or other physical or emotional effects.
- By entering or participating, you acknowledge and agree to the following:
- You are voluntarily entering the challenge entirely at your own risk.
- You are medically fit to participate.
- You will consult a medical professional before taking part if you have any doubts.
- You understand the potential dangers and agree not to hold Raval Indian Brasserie & Bar, its owners, staff, affiliates, sponsors, or partners liable for any loss, injury, illness, or consequence resulting from participation in this challenge.
6. Guest Attendance
- The event is free for participants only.
- Supporters or guests must make a restaurant reservation if they wish to attend and dine. They will be treated as standard paying guests.
- No complimentary food or drink will be provided to supporters.
7. Media Consent
- By entering and attending, you consent to being filmed, photographed, and recorded.
- You grant Raval the right to use your image, name, and likeness in all media, marketing, press, and promotional activity related to the challenge, without further consent or compensation.
8. Event Changes or Cancellation
- Raval reserves the right to change the date, time, format, or cancel the event due to low participation or unforeseen circumstances.
- If cancelled or adapted, the prize fund of £500 will be donated directly to the Great North Children’s Hospital in line with the campaign’s purpose.
9. Governing Law
These terms shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. By participating, you submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
